A gremlin has been tossed into the Republican presidential contest--Mitt Romney won the Michigan Primary yesterday, topping John McCain by about nine percentage points. Mike Huckabee was third.
What to make of this?
Michiganders could have been thanking former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney, a Michigan native, for his lavishment of attention on their state. Or it could show that there the Republican electorate isn't enamored by the crop of candidates running, which could mean that the GOP could be headed to a brokered convention--which means not only would the get-together mean something for the first time for either party in decades, but it would not turn into a three-day infomercial for the Party.
And that would be quite entertaining.
