Air America back on the air in Chicago

Well, as tipped off by Eric Zorn, and then sort of retracted, Air America is actually back on the air in Chicago, on low wattage WCPT (Chicago's Progressive Talk) AM 850. I listened to it in on the way to work, and managed not to get in a car accident during the half hour trip while I took in the muses of liberal talk radio

Jerry Springer is the morning host. Yes, that Jerry Springer.

And I'm not making this up, less than a minute into his lecture to the listeners, Jerry was whining about Bush's "lies." Springer went further than most, claiming everything Bush says is a lie. Jerry then backed down a bit, stating everthing Bush says is "a distortion of reality."

Now, here we have a guy, Jerry Springer, whose livelihood depends on obviously coached "guests" enacting "real" fights on that freak show called "The Jerry Springer Show," waving his finger at President Bush for (allegedly) distorting reality. Is this the best morning-drive host Air America can come up with?

As mentioned in Eric's column, WCPT's walkie-talkie wattage signal does not cover the entire Chicago area.

But I live and work in the center of the "good coverage area." And there was a lot of static. And not just the metaphorical kind.

Well, WLS-AM 890 Chicago, the mostly conservative-talker and the ratings king here can relax, they have nothing to fear. And so can the "newbie" on the block, WIND 560, which is an all-conservative talk station.

Michael Medved's show is broadcast on WIND; Medved was the first radio-personality to interview Professor Klocek.

Air America's last stay in the Chicago area lasted about a week. They'll be here longer than that this time.

I think.
