Illinois' hapless and hopeless governor, Pat Quinn, approved a rehab of the state Capitol in Springfield four years ago. Vendors typically wait six months to be paid by the state, but taxpayers are footing the bill for a $50 million project, which includes copper-plated front doors that cost $670,000 and $323,000 for four chandeliers.
Quinn made this bold step after his 2014 primary opponent, fellow Chicago Democrat Bill Daley, criticized the extravagance.
