Sign the White House petition to save the Chicago Reagan apartment

832 E. 57th Street
Last night I started at petition at WhiteHouse.gov in regards to the Ronald Reagan apartment in Chicago's Hyde Park neighborhood that the University of Chicago wants to tear down and replace it with either a parking lot or a grassy strip.

Here is how the petition reads:
Request that the University of Chicago not tear down the apartment where Ronald Reagan and his family lived.

We ask that the Obama Administration request the University of Chicago, where the president was once an instructor, not tear down the apartment building it owns at 832 E. 57th Street. The building is of historical significance--Ronald Reagan and his family lived there in 1915. Reagan, the only president to be born in Illinois, was the first president to live in Chicago.

You have to use a valid email address in order to sign it.

UPDATE 2:30pm CST: It has come to my attention that some people are reluctant to sign the petition because you need to register for a White House account with a valid email address. I understand your concern. If this is an issue for you, I recommend that you set up a disposable email account--Yahoo is very good for that purpose-- you can delete that account once you've signed the Reagan petition.
