At a recent luncheon for my über-liberal congresscritter, Jan Schakowsky, Illinois Governor Pat Quinn, who has collected over $5 million in political contributions from public-sector unions, said if his Republican opponent, Bill Brady, had defeated him, the state would have had "Scott Walker on steroids as our governor."
If only we were so lucky. Instead we have Governor Quinn Pro Quo.
During last year's campaign, Quinn lied about the size of the tax increase he was seeking. He told voters that he supported the death penalty, then signed into law a bill abolishing it. The minority leader in the state House, Tom Cross, says the erstwhile reformer swapped votes with liberals on the capital punishment bill so Quinn could get his 67 percent income tax increase passed.
The Chicago Democrat even welshed on a bet with Scott Walker on January's NFC Championship game.
Over sixty percent of Illinoisans disapprove of Quinn's performance as governor, according to a We Ask America poll.
Quinn is unpopular, so he feels compelled to bash Walker.
What a weasel.
Hat tip to Capitol Fax for the video.
