Blogging from Georgetown in Washington DC.
Former Senator George Allen of Virginia has thrown his hat in the ring to reclaim his old seat. A former governor of the Old Dominion, I asked Allen about his feeling about union card check in a video interview this afternoon. John Hawkins of Right Wing News, with whom I had dinner with along with Tania of Midnight Blue Says, assists Allen in making a point about the intimidation involved with card check.
Allen's father, also named George, was head coach of the Los Angeles Rams and the Washington Redskins. He was defensive coordinator of the Chicago Bears when they won the NFL championship in 1963. The family lived in Deerfield, Illinois at that time
Allen has already announced his plans to reclaim his old seat in 2012.
