Woodland sunflowers

My purple coneflower entry was well receieved, so I decided to do another flower post.

Pictured are woodland sunflowers which I photographed in Morton Grove's Linne Woods two summers ago. It's a common wildlower in the eastern half of the United States, although less so in northern Illinois.

As with coneflowers, sunflowers are members of the aster family.
