Obama's oil spill commission releases flawed report

Continued coverage of the Tucson shootings have overshadowed this news, but earlier today the president's oil spill commission released its final report out the Deepwater Horizon blowout, which you can read about here. Its findings are similar to what Save US Energy Jobs graphically presented in July. BP was a bad actor.

From the commission's report:

Better management by BP, Halliburton, and Transocean would almost certainly have prevented the blowout by improving the ability of individuals involved to identify the risks they faced, and to properly evaluate, communicate, and address them.
The National Academy of Engineering called the spill an isolated occurrence, yet the commission blames a "systemic" problem within the entire oil industry.

Why? Well, there were no oil industry experts on the oil spill commission. Perhaps these people don't know what they're talking about

Its co-chair was a onetime president of the World Wildlife Fund. Also on the commission was Frances Bienecke of the Natural Resources Defense Council.

The New Orleans Times Picayune offers a different perspective in an op-ed: "It's puzzling, then, that the oil spill commission considers these facts and arrives at two flawed conclusions."

Of course we all know that the Obama administration is at war with fossil fuels.
