National debt passes $14 trillion mark

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America's debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. government can't pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance the government's reckless fiscal policies." Sen. Barack Obama, 2006, voicing his opposition to raising the debt ceiling to $8.96 trillion.

Now President Obama wants to increase the debt limit. Leadership? Failure?

Oh, the national debt exceeded $14 trillion today. In May it passed $13 trillion.
