Chicago Tea Party 9/12 rally photo essay

I had to work today, so I sent Mrs. Marathon Pundit, who is a better photographer than I am, to the Chicago Tea Party 9/12 rally here in Morton Grove.

Yes, President Obama greeted the several hundred patriots who came to St. Paul Woods this afternoon.

Morton Grove is the geographic center of Illinois' 9th Congressional District. And the Republican who is running to represent me in the 9th is Joel Pollak, pictured here with his wife, Julia. Both spoke, and Joel sang "Ballad of the Tea Party," with some reworked lyrics.

Joel also gave a speech, read it here.

William J. Kelly, whose Kelly Truth Squad can be heard each Sunday night at 9:00pm on WIND-AM. Kelly writes for Chicago Now and the Washington Times Communities section.

Since there is a 9th Congressional District in Illinois, there must be an 8th. Running for that seat is Republican Joe Walsh. For decades this was a GOP stronghold, let's hope Walsh wins it back.

Walsh didn't come alone. He brought his Walsh for Congress trailer, which he invited attendees to sign, Mrs. Marathon Pundit complied.

Steve Kim is the Republican candidate for attorney general. If he wins he will be the first Asian-American to hold statewide office in Illinois.

And it wasn't just white people at the tea party, these patriotic Hispanics participated in the festivities.

Tom Mannis was there too, here is his detailed report and slide show.
