Pawnbroker candidate update: Steroids, choking, and unpaid child support

Rich Miller of Capitol Fax has a great collection atrocities committed by Democratic lieutenant governor nominee Scott Lee Cohen, a pawnbroker.

His divorce papers are public. They're frightening.

Here's how CBS 2 Chicago Mike Flannery opened his chilling story about the Chicagoan:

His own brother Larry had to sue him and got a judgment for 200,000 bucks. Scott Cohen's wife told me that prior to his marriage he did try to choke her. Now she’s back in court trying to get back child support that he didn't pay while he was spending $3 million on his run for lieutenant governor.

Now over to Ben Bradley at ABC 7 Chicago:

Cohen and his wife Debra were in the midst of a messy divorce. Court records indicate she got an order of protection against her husband. In her petition she says Mr. Cohen was taking injectable steroids and had an erratic, explosive temper.

Mrs. Cohen said her husband confessed several affairs, then tried to force her to have sex. Debbie Cohen York says she now supports her ex.

"At the time he was going through a different phase. He was a different person than he is now," said Debbie Cohen York.

York voted for Cohen. Hey, every vote counts.

Governor Pat Quinn wants Cohen to quit the ticket. If he doesn't, Quinn may have to run as a third party candidate, which will certainly hurt his fall election chances.

But not as much as having Cohen at his side.

If the Quinn/Cohen ticket wins in November, the pawnbroker will be a heartbeat away from the governor's mansion.

So his alimony and child support money went to job fairs and his political campaign, right? Nice guy!
