Obama flip flop on Georgian conflict

At least Barack Obama is consistent in his flip flopping. This time it's the conflict in Georgia.

But first to John McCain, who issued this tough rebuke against Russia on Friday:

Today, news reports indicate that Russian military forces crossed an internationally-recognized border into the sovereign territory of Georgia. Russia should immediately and unconditionally cease its military operations and withdraw all forces from sovereign Georgian territory. What is most critical now is to avoid further confrontation between Russian and Georgian military forces. The consequences for Euro-Atlantic stability and security are grave.

Later that day Barack Obama released this statement:

I strongly condemn the outbreak of violence in Georgia, and urge an immediate end to armed conflict. Now is the time for Georgia and Russia to show restraint, and to avoid an escalation to full scale war. Georgia's territorial integrity must be respected. All sides should enter into direct talks on behalf of stability in Georgia, and the United States, the United Nations Security Council, and the international community should fully support a peaceful resolution to this crisis.

Yesterday however, probably after figuring out it was Russia who invaded the territory of an American ally, Obama issued a tougher, McCain-like statement:

I condemn Russia's aggressive actions and reiterate my call for an immediate ceasefire... Russia must stop its bombing campaign, cease flights of Russian aircraft in Georgian airspace, and withdraw its ground forces from Georgia.

Hat tip to Gateway Pundit.

American and english mass media are lying to people. Lying because they show information in a way that is favourable to them. They say that russians are killing innocent georgian people without any reason etc.
But they somehow forgot to mention some little details, like following:
07.08.2008 (August 7th) at 22:00 Georgia has attacked South Ossetia. At 3:30 08.08.2008 tanks of the Georgian armies have entered city Tskhinvali. Artillery bombardment all the day long proceeded, fights with use of tanks and heavy combat material, both against ossetic armies, and against peace inhabitants were conducted. 1400 civil people already were lost - thanks to Georgia. The Russian peacemakers have arrived to South Ossetia in the evening 08.08.2008 for settlement of the conflict and prompting of the world in republic and protection of the Russian citizens living on territory of South Ossetia. Georgia has attacked South Ossetia on eve of Olympiad, it is top of cruelty and cynicism. Proofs and video-materials look on : www.1tvrus.com/ , www.1tv.ru/owa/win/ort6_main.main , www.rian.ru/ , www.vesti.ru/news , news.ntv.ru/ , www.ren-tv.com/ , www.newsru.com/.
One more small detail: South Ossetia belongs to Georgia (officially) and The Northern Ossetia belongs to the Russian Federation. This two parts were divided from ONE UNIQUE country by force after the USSR destruction. One nation (ossetians) live there. Many of them are USSIAN citizens and they respect Russia. Georgians began TO KILL innocent people without warning - just like they wanted to play with lives of ossetians.
Think.
Do not take false information about this war as a truth by default.
PS. Pleasy sorry me for some orphographical mistakes (if they are here).

I'm beginning to think the above comment is either a lie, political misdirection, or just flat-out ignorant.
Everything I read indicates the numbers of Russian troops entering Georgia had to be put in place days/weeks ahead of time. This invasion has been planned for a long, long time.
It looks like Imperialist aggression, pure and simple.
Back to the future?

Do you suppose the Georgians were "hoping for change?"
Well, they got it!

Grey,

Wolfa appears to be promoting a bit of Russian state propaganda...

But, both sides have been escalating for weeks, which is why both Obama and McCain are right in their initial remarks condemning the Russian over-reaction (though only Obama acknowledged the Georgians' role in the tensions as well).

Not sure why Mr. Ruberry is inventing this flip-flop issue of his... I'm also not sure how Sen. McCain thinks he'd be able to back up his "firm stand" against Russia. Because of Iraq, we have no leverage in this region -- military or political... (which may explain why Pres. Bush was like a deer in headlights when talking with Bob Costas about the conflict and next steps).

Seemed kind of odd for a fellow -- McCain -- to be talking as if he already were president when he was complaining that he saw such things in his opponent a few weeks back.
