Chicago Ald. Joe Moore married today

I'm, a little late on this one, but I was hoping for an invitation to this fabulous event that my pal Tom Mannis at The Bench disclosed to the world Friday afternoon:

In an exclusive story, The Bench has learned through a network of spies and informants that 49th Ward Alderman Joe Moore will get married on the afternoon of Saturday, June 7, 2008.

The top secret location: 5455 N. Sheridan Road in a party room that has been used for DFA (My note: Democracy for America) meetings in the past. The fact that Moore is getting married in a high rise will be sure to make people wonder about how he feels about preserving the lakefront in his own 49th Ward, just up the road.

Moore's 49th Ward, which is bordered by Evanston and the Chicago Lakefront, is pretty rundown, not that Moore does much to improve things there. Instead, he focuses on national issues like the Iraq War, Wal-Mart expansion (while his own ward has precious reasonably-priced retail outlets), and banning foie gras in Chicago. On the latter, about a dozen establishments in Chicago served the delicacy prior the ban he pushed through the Chicago City Council, none in his ward.

Mayor Richard M. Daley called Moore's law "the silliest law the City Council has ever passed," which quite an achievement for the lowly-regarded legislative body, and last month led the drive to repeal the Moore-onic statue.

No word on whether foie gras was served at the reception, or if there was a reception.

If there was, I don't know if the event had a cash bar or an open bar.

Most of you are probably unaware of moore’s “Master Plan” designed by he and his fish-eyed fake-activist ex-wife, Elaine Weiss. Weiss had done work for the Clinton campaign back in the day and had been rewarded a HHS Regional post here in Chicago. After quickly realizing she was in over her head, Weis resigned and started working for various Hillary Clinton publicity initiatives, with the hope of a less-stressful post in DC , under a planned President or Vice President Hillary Clinton. Moore could then tag along and score some nebulous social freedom-fighter political position without any real responsibility or required competence (he’s not very bright). He has been trying to build a reputation as a “champion of the oppressed”, including geese and the impoverished of his neighborhood, gallantly battling the “Chicago political machine” (which everyone in DC thinks is corrupt). If Rogers Park were to actually develop, the new residents would quickly see through him and boot him out of office, hence his need to keep the oppressed under his control. His ward is simply a stepping stone for higher aspirations. Unfortunately, Hillary has been marginalized, leaving fish-eyes and moore out of luck, and Moore out of a path to Washington. The ward is stuck with him until they wake up and smell the potential value of the neighborhood. Guys: Wake up and smell the Foie Gras!
