Andrea Shea King from the Rebuild America Tour in Wisconsin

Near Rhinelander, Wisconsin.
The Campaign to Defeat Barack Obama's Rebuild America Tour is off to a good start, Andrea Shea King reports from Wisconsin.
Wisconsin is a beautiful place. If you've never been there, you’re missing one of America’s nicest places to be. The scenery is grand, the towns are pure Americana, and the people are warm, friendly, and helpful.
Today the Rebuild America tour is still in Wisconsin--with stops in Hudson and Wausau.

It's never his fault: Obama blames Congress for blocking housing recovery

Foreclosed home, Morton Grove
This guy is beyond belief. When things go wrong--which is commonplace now--Barack Obama blames others. In his latest weekly address, Dear Leader is blaming Congress because the housing sector hasn't turned around yet.

Mitt Romney is too classy of a man to behave in such a manner. Time for a correction, my friends.

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band: The Price You Pay

Driving cars are a common subject of Bruce Springsteen songs. Religious themes sometimes trickle into into his work. "The Price You Pay," a rarely-performed song from the dark Side Four (vinyl flashback, my friends)of The River has both.

We all start out with big dreams--but often we don't live long enough to see them.

Moses died before he reached the Promised Land.

Little girl down on the strand. With that pretty little baby in your hands. Do you remember the story of the promised land. How he crossed the desert sands. And could not enter the chosen land. On the banks of the river he stayed. To face the price you pay.
So let the game start, you better run you little wild heart. You can run through all the nights and all the days.  But just across the county line, a stranger passing through put up a sign. That counts the men fallen away to the price you pay. And girl before the end of the day, I'm gonna tear it down and throw it away.
Two songs later on The River is the concluding track, "Wreck on the Highway." Prior to that album Springsteen released Darkness on the Edge of Town One of the songs on that work was "The Promised Land." Perhaps "The Price You Pay" is a somber sequel. This video is from the November 8, 2009 performance at Madison Square Garden where Springsteen and the E Street Band played The River in its entirety.

The smooth sumac, a scrubby tree has a unique distinction. It's the only tree that this native in the 48  continental states Although east of the 100th meridian it can only be found in occasional pockets.

Sumacs, a member of the cashew family, are not considered attactive--except in autumn--when the leaves turn bright red. I photographed this grove at Fort Shreridan--on shore of Lake Michigan--a few days ago.

This tree also occurs in every county in Illinois.

Weekly GOP Address with Vernon Parker of Arizona

Vernon Walker, the Republican candidate for Arizona's new 9th congressional district, gives today's Weekly GOP Address.

"Growing up in a tough neighborhood with gangs, guns and violence, I told myself if I ever got out, I'd work hard to make sure others have an easier shot to succeed and achieve the American dream," Parker says here. "I'm running for Congress because we can't continue to burden our job creators with more regulations, more taxes and more of the uncertainty that's fueled by our massive debt."

In These Times has it wrong: Obama doesn't love car workers, he loves the UAW

In These Times--which seriously make the New York Times look like the Wall Street Journal, has a story today with the headline, Romney loves American cars, Obama loves American car workers.

They got it wrong. While Mitt Romney, whose father was the CEO of the American Motors Corporation, does love American cars, Obama loves the United Auto Workers Union. His money-losing General Motors and Chrysler bailouts were political payoffs to his pals at the UAW--who now are pounding the streets for Obama's reelection.

Besides, Obama is a typical liberal. He loves "the people" but he could care less about individuals.
