From Da Tech Guy: Get ready for America’s sestercentennial in 2026

We're ten years away from the United States' 250th birthday as I discuss at Da Tech Guy: Get ready for America’s sestercentennial in 2026.

Obama's JV team, ISIS, kills 126 people in Baghdad bombings

When Barack Obama was sworn in as president there was no Islamic State terror group. Just two years ago America's leftist champion dismissed ISIS as a "jay-vee team," that his a subpar junior varsity high school squad.

Last week there were two deadly ISIS attacks, 45 were killed in Turkey and 20 in Bangladesh.

Today 126 people were killed in two Baghdad in two bombings.

Iraq was stabilizing when George W. Bush left office. Obama squandered a victory and now people are dying with a stupefying regularity.

FBI criminal investigation: Hillary interviewed for over 3 hours

Here's is something to talk about with your friends and families over the long July 4th holiday. The Democratic Part is on the verge on doing something historic when they formally select their candidate--when Hillary Clinton accepts her party's nomination she'll still be under be under FBI criminal investigation for her mishandling of classified emails while serving as Barack Obama's secretary of state.

From AP:
But as the past week shows, the case is complicated. Clinton sat down with the FBI just days after her husband, former President Bill Clinton, walked across a hot airport tarmac in Phoenix for an impromptu meeting with Attorney General Loretta Lynch and Lynch's husband. The couple had just landed.

The nation's top law enforcement official later expressed regret that she had met with the former president, whose plane was about to depart Phoenix, even though she said it was social in nature and they did not discuss the email review. Bill Clinton nominated Lynch as U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of New York in 1999.

Lynch said Friday that she intended to accept the findings and recommendations of career prosecutors who have spent months investigating the case.

Clinton’s campaign did not comment on the meeting between Lynch and the ex-president. But it has raised questions about its propriety given the investigation, and congressional Republicans have renews calls for the appointment of a special prosecutor in the case.

Paul Revere and the Raiders: Kicks

Since it's 4th of July weekend I thought it would be quite appropriate to post a video of Paul Revere and the Raiders performing "Kicks" in their colonial era gear.

This tune was the first hit anti-drug song.
Kicks just keep gettin' harder to find
And all your kicks ain't bringin' you peace of mind.
Be safe and stay away from drugs this weekend. And beyond.

2005 Lotus Elise

Here's a car that makes a statement: a 2005 Lotus Elise. This British sports car is not for everyone. The MSRP of the base model is nearly $50,000--and this one is a manual transmission model.

Two dead so far in ISIS terror attack in Bangladesh

The barbarians are attacking again. Two are dead so far in an the latest outrage claimed by the Islamic State.

From CNN:
After hours of quiet at a cafe in the Bagladesh capital where terrorists were holding hostages, a fresh round of heavy gunfire punctured the air Saturday morning, witnesses told CNN.

Media have reported that police stormed the restaurant, Holey Artisan Bakery, in Dhaka.

Armed terrorists may have as many as 20 hostages at the cafe in a diplomatic zone.

The hostage crisis followed a Friday night gun battle with police that left at least two senior officers dead and 40 people injured.
This is how ISIS needs to be handled. By killing them. Every single one of them.

Chiraq: June deadliest month so far in 2016

Will July be even worse?

It's easy to understand why the Obamas aren't coming back to Chicago.

From ABC Chicago:
The city of Chicago saw 72 murders last month, according to crime data released by Chicago police Friday. It is the most of any month so far this year.

There were also 361 shootings in June and 447 shooting victims. Halfway through the year, there have been more than 300 murders and more than 1,600 shootings and 1953 shooting victims.

Chicago police say they've made changes to try to combat the violence with special patrols at beaches and parks. They have also added officers in more high crime areas they have expanded bike and foot patrols and re-vamped their overtime system.

On this day in 1916: Battle of the Somme begins

In a war know for its futility, the Battle of the Somme, which began on July 1, 1916, stands out. On the first day 19,000 British Empire and 7,000 French soldiers were killed. When the battle officially ended in mid-November there were nearly one million casualties among the British, French, and German armies.

The battle, which was fought in northwestern France, achieved nothing, other than killing and maiming.

J.R.R. Tolkien, the author of The Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings, was an officer at the battle. He developed trench fever and was sent back to England where he spent the rest of the Great War. The Dead Marshes that Frodo, Sam, and Gollum traveled through were inspired by the Somme horrors.
