Don't do it. Every time I go back to see family, the culture of Michigan no longer seems to invite me back. I used to love to go to Ann Arbor (Downtown), Dearborn (Henry Ford Museum), Frankenmuth (Zenders Inn), and of course Detroit (Lions and Tigers). But now when I visit I noticed that the culture of Detroit has spread it's tentacles out all over the state.

Kinda like Chicago and the rest of Illinois.
