On that day the city of Dixon, Illinois, his boyhood home, will unveil the proposed design for a statue of "Dutch" as a lifeguard.
For seven years Reagan worked as a lifeguard on the Rock River at Dixon's Lowell Park--where he saved 77 lives. According to SaukValley.com, Rotblatt Amrany Fine Arts Studio in north suburban Chicago. The studio's works include statues of Michael Jordan, Bobby Hull, and Kareem Abdul Jabbar.
The cost of the statue, estimated to be at $200,000, will be paid for by individual and corporate sponsorships.
South of Dixon in Tampico, where Reagan was born, the annual birthday party for Dutch will be held that same day from 10am-4pm.
