"Chicago is an example of what makes this country great."
Barack Obama, August 16, 2012.
Rahiel Tesfamariam, a liberal Washington Post writer, juxtaposes candidate Barack Obama's eagerness to end the war in Iraq--of course he wasn't interested in 'winning' it--with the ongoing bloodshed in his adopted hometown of Chicago.
Shifting to another conflict, Chicago's NPR station pointed out that since the war in Afghanistan began in 2001, 2,000 Americans have died in combat, while 5,000 Chicagoans have been murdered during that same time span.
This weekend has already been a bloody one. In a 24 hour span, 5 Chicagoans were shot to death--including a man who was killed three blocks from President Obama's home--and 19 others were wounded.
It's so bad in the city that one murderer shot his victim from a mountain bike.
