Obama's Labor Dept: Removing the kids from the family farm

Glenview, Illinois
While it has been more than a century since a majority of Americans lived on a farm, the tradition of children doing farm chores remains one of our oldest traditions.

But President Obama's Labor Department--taking a break from its obsessive shilling for unions--wants to put an end to that.

They also want to get 4-H and Future Farmers of America out of the safety certification business--setting up a 90-hour federal program in place instead, one that will likely not be as effective. I mean, we're talking about government here.

Back in 2007 and 2008, Barack Obama decried cynicism. But I am quite cynical right now--because the Democrats' 'shellacking' was especially pronounced in congressional districts with a strong agricultural presence.

UPDATE April 27: Whaddya know...the DoL backed down last night on their new farm labor rules. They felt the pressure.
