Frozen beach, Saulkrasti, Latvia

Roughly 30 miles north of Riga, the Latvian capital, is Saulkrasti, which I've visited twice. The town abuts the Baltic Sea and is blessed by gorgeous sandy beaches, although you can barely see the sand in this photograph. As I wrote a couple of times in the last month, much of the Baltic has been covered with ice this winter.

Besides the beach and the sea, the stately pines on the dunes impressed me.

Mrs. Marathon Pundit spent much of March in Latvia and took many pictures. Look for more in the weeks ahead.

Saulkrasti is my native town for 10 years already. White Dune and nature park is peaceful place to clear up mind :) Best regards from Saulkrasti!
