It's time for another Chicago coincidence. Of the Chicago mayoral candidates, state Senator James Meeks has been the most aggressive in challenging the residency status of former White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel, who is the frontrunner in the race.
Meeks' attorney, Burt Odelson, filed a lawsuit last week to remove Emanuel from the ballot.
Rob Halpin, who rents out Emanuel's Northwest Side home, is running for mayor too. He's never run for public office, but luckily Uptown homeless man Arthur J. Hardy Jr. not only collected 3,990 petition signatures for him, he also collected 3,160 for Meeks. Last Monday Hardy not only submitted all of Meeks' completed petitions, he did the same for Halpin as well.
Odelson says there is not coordination between Meeks' and Halpin's campaigns.
