Warren Zevon: Mohammed's Radio

For all of its outrageousness, rock music has trouble digesting humorous performers. The late Warren Zevon achieved great success with his second album, Excitable Boy, which contained such rollicking fare as the title track, "Werewolves of London," and "Lawyers, Guns, and, Money."

But this song, Mohammed's Radio, comes from his lesser-known but overall better previous album, Warren Zevon. A few years later Zevon recorded a live version. with a Jimmy Carter verse.

Alcoholism plagued Zevon early in his career. Then hits stopped coming, but the music got better. Unfortunately until his death Zevon was tagged as the "Werewolves-of- London-guy." He was so much more than that.
