Dem Blumenthal: "I wore the uniform in Vietnam"

Let's face it, presumptive Democratic Connecticut US Senate nominee Richard Blumenthal lied, badly lied (on multiple levels) about serving in Vietnam.

From the Stamford Advocate:

"I wore the uniform in Vietnam and many came back to all kinds of disrespect. Whatever we think of war, we owe the men and women of the armed forces our unconditional support."

The occasion was the Stamford Veterans Day parade Nov. 9, 2008.

The speaker was Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal, as quoted by The Advocate.
And then there is this:

During a May 18, 2009, military board tribute to veterans in Shelton, Blumenthal was quoted by the Connecticut Post as saying, "When we returned from Vietnam, I remember the taunts, the verbal and even physical abuse we encountered."
Here's what Amber Marchand, the National Republican Senatorial Committee press secretary, has to say about Blumenthal:

As demonstrated by his persistent dishonesty about his military service during Vietnam, it's clear that Dick Blumenthal has a real problem with simply telling the truth. Blumenthal did not wear a uniform in Vietnam, and to assert otherwise is not only disrespectful to his constituents, but insulting to the millions of men and women who have bravely served and given their lives in order to protect our nation over the course of generations. There is no doubt that voters in Connecticut will hold Blumenthal accountable for his shameful lies when they cast their ballots in November.
