The bad news: Not until 2012.
You can't make this stuff up. From the Daily Express:
Age discrimination will be outlawed in the NHS and social care from 2012, Health Secretary Andy Burnham is due to announce, following a review of the treatment of older people.
The sectors had been expected to fall in line with new equalities legislation being debated by Parliament later than the rest of the country.
But Mr. Burnham will make clear that legal rights will be introduced without delay.
He will explain the move as he publishes the conclusions of a study by an NHS chief into how to ensure fair access to services for pensioners.
