Watching the river flow in Skokie

People disagreeing everywhere you look,
Makes you wanna stop and read a book.
Why only yesterday I saw somebody on the street
That was really shook.
But this ol' river keeps on rollin', though,
No matter what gets in the way and which way the wind does blow,
And as long as it does I'll just sit here
And watch the river flow.

Bob Dylan, "Watching The River Flow," 1971.

Fall colors are just starting to emerge in Skokie's Harms Woods along the North Branch of the Chicago River.

That's the scene I encountered while running this afternoon.

I use to live in Glenview, right behind, or near Hackney's on Harms. Harms words was a 5 min walk from the house. It was always great to be in the city and have the Woods as a great if only a brief retreat.

That picture was taken very close to Glenview, just north of Old Orchard Road.
