The Illinois Leader claims to have obtained from "Ditka for Governor" flyer from a copy shop in Springfield.
According to the Leader, the flyer touts "Ditka’s commitment to “Honest Values,” “Responsible Government,” and “Progressive Leadership.'”
Last year Ditka toyed with replacing the disgraced Jack Ryan as the Republican nominee for the US Senate, that nomination of course ended up going to Alan Keyes, who in turn ended up being thoroughly trounced by Barack Obama in the general election.
The Illinois Leader couldn't come up with any proof that "Da Coach" actually was behind the printing of the flyers.
I'd like to add that Ditka probably isn't aware that the flyers even exist. However, if he does decide to throw his "orange 'c' hat in the ring," Iron Mike will have to work on his financial management skills. Illinois' current governor, Democrat Rod Blagojevich has been criticized for his unsound fiscal policies, but Governor Rod hasn't managed to have $30,000 in cash disappear from his home, as happened at the Chicago Ditka residence.
