Tom Waits - New Year's Eve

Just as he worked "Waltzing Matilda" into his song "Tom Traubert's Blues," Tom Waits does the same with "Auld Lang Syne" on the closing track of his most recent album, Bad As Me.

Here is Waits crooning "New Year's Eve."

Saturday Night Live skit, or actual message from Lori Lightfoot, Chicago mayor?

Earlier this month I compared over at Da Tech Guy I compared woke Chicago mayor Lori Lightfoot's response to rampant flash mob theft incidents to an old Saturday Night Live sketch

Mark Dice is among several who is making that SNL connection to Beetlejuice's Kwanzaa message.

Just in case you are not sure--it is never good for a public figure to be compared to an SNL skit.

Chicago - Jolly Old St. Nicholas (2003)

Chicago, the band, has usually been a stylistic outlier. Here they are in 2003 singing an '80's-style rendition of "Jolly Old St. Nicholas."

Singing lead is Keith Howland, who left the band last month after breaking his harm.

Biden says Americans are "tired, worried and frustrated" after he failed to "shut down" the virus

Many times during the presidential campaign Joe Biden vowed to "shut down" the COVID-19 virus. He didn't.

This afternoon in a press briefing where he coughed a lot, Biden said that Americans are "tired, worried and frustrated" about COVID.

Many Americans are tired of Biden.

Request to fire Soros-tied Milwaukee County district attorney sent to governor

While Wisconsin's governor is a Democrat--he faces a tough reelection next year.

Let's keep our fingers crossed.

John T. Chisholm is the George Soros-tied so-called prosecutor in Milwaukee County whose office set a pittance of a bail for Darrell Brooks Jr., the career criminal who allegedly killed six people at a Christmas parade last month with his SUV.

From Fox Milwaukee:

Milwaukee County residents have officially asked Governor Tony Evers to fire District Attorney John Chisholm. Evers says he'll take the complaint seriously.
Wisconsin state law allows the governor to oust a district attorney for cause, but it requires a verified complaint filed by a taxpayer of the jurisdiction, which then starts a process.
For weeks, FOX6 asked Evers if he'd fire Chisholm.
"We have a process, simple," Evers said on Dec. 6. "I get a letter from somebody in the county requesting that process be initiated, and we’ll initiate it."
Chisholm once said about his catch-and-release approach to prosecution, "Is there going to be an individual I divert, or I put into treatment program, who's going to go out and kill somebody? You bet. Guaranteed. It's guaranteed to happen. It does not invalidate the overall approach."

Four people killed and at least 19 others wounded over weekend in Chicago

Three years ago I attended--or should I say infiltrated?--a leftist protest on Chicago's North Side. The theme of it was that it was time for North Siders to have their lifestyles disrupted.

Well, we are at that point now. Over this past weekend four people were shot to death, one of them in North Park on the North Side and another in Old Irving Park on the Northwest Side. Shootings are infrequent in both neighborhoods, as they are in Pullman on the South Side, which also suffered a deadly shooting.

The fourth fatal shooting occurred in Austin on the West Side.

Nineteen others were wounded in weekend shootings.

Biden NSA Jake Sullivan: “We safely and effectively drew down” in Afghanistan

There are now two "Fake Jakes." CNN's Jake Tapper and Biden national security advisor Jake Sullivan. On Friday Sullivan made a claim worthy of Baron Munchausen.

He said, despite the fact that we abandoned hundreds of Americans in the hellhole, "We safely and effectively drew down" in Afghanistan.

We've all seen relatives, dear ones too, who aren't mentally all there anymore.

Bidenflation: Price hikes highest since 1982

Joe Biden is a disaster for the economy. And despite the Biden administration's assurances--this inflation is not transitory.

Before long leftists will be calling for a $20 minimum wage--because of Bidenflation.

As for that sign, Biden killed thousands of union jobs when he cancelled the construction of the Keystone XL pipeline.

Back to inflation:

From ABC News:

Consumer prices are continuing to climb, causing new pain for Americans' pocketbooks, as inflation tightens its grip on the economy and hobbles the post-pandemic recovery.
The consumer price index, which measures the prices consumers pay for a market basket of everyday goods and services, jumped 0.8% last month after rising 0.9% in October, the Department of Labor reported Friday. Over the last 12 months, the index climbed some 6.8% before seasonal adjustment. This marks the largest 12-month increase in nearly 40 years.
While inflation is already wreaking havoc on holiday shopping, it's especially painful for households with limited means to absorb higher prices for essentials. Policymakers including Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell in recent weeks have also began walking back on assurances that it was likely a temporary, post-pandemic blip.
The so-called core index, a measure of all prices less the more volatile food and energy indices, rose 0.5% in November, building on a 0.6% increase in October. The core index climbed 4.9% over the last 12 months, the DOL said.

Chicago Mayor Lightfoot blames smash-and-grab sprees on retailers

Imagine a cop coming to your home after a break-in and telling you, "Well, it's your fault, you shouldn't have such nice things in your house." That's Lori Lightfoot, Chicago's mayor.

She's a loon. And to think that Lightweight is a former prosecutor.

Lightfoot should point the finger of blame at herself, her handpicked police chief, and of course her fellow Democrat, reputed prosecutor Kim Foxx.

Clown News Network: Don Lemonhead warned Smollett that cops didn't believe his MAGA attack story

Last week CNN, the Clown News Network, fired reputed journalist Chris Cuomo after it was revealed that he was scheming with his disgraced brother, ex-New York governor Andrew, to combat the latter's sexual harassment scandal.

Oh, Chris has his own harassment scandal too.

Now Don Lemon is being accused of compromising, assuming he has any, his journalistic ethics.

From the Daily Mail:

Jussie Smollett told his hoax attack trial on Monday that CNN host Don Lemon warned him Chicago police did not believe he was the victim of a racist homophobic attack, in what is being seen as another example of the network's hosts using their clout and sources to help their friends.

Lemon, who is also gay, is said to have warned Smollett back in 2019 that Chicago Police Detectives were dubious about his story that he'd been beaten in the middle of the night by two white men wearing MAGA hats.

Smollett told his trial yesterday that Lemon warned him that Chicago PD detectives had told him they didn't believe the story.

Lemon didn't mention it on his show last night during a minutes-long segment with reporter Omar Jiminez, who had been at the trial.

CNN isn't a news network--but a left-wing propaganda organ.

The Clown News Network is also the channel of Jeffrey "Handsy" Toobin.

Oh, I nearly forgot. Lemonhead has been accused of sexual harassment too!

Six killed, including one teen boy, and at least 24 wounded over weekend in Chicago

Another bloody weekend just concluded in Chicago. Over the first weekend in December six people were killed and at least 24 others were wounded.

Of the fatalities, one was a 15-year-old boy who was shot to death in the Loop Saturday night as a large group of youths gathered. Last night another big gathering of "Yoots" took place downtown. While there were no fatalities there was a non-fatal shooting--also a CTA bus driver was beaten.

Back to the homicides: In what appears to be the first fatal shooting in the Northwest Side's Jefferson Park neighborhood this year, a woman shot to death in an alley early Sunday morning. Two others were wounded in that shooting. Three people were also shot, one fatally, around that same time on the Near West Side.

The other weekend fatal shootings occurred on the South Side, including a Sunday homicide of a woman in South Shore, an 18-year-old man was killed Saturday night in Englewood, and the first weekend shooting occurred Friday night in neighboring West Englewood.

Another rotten jobs month: Just 210,000 new hires in November

The Joe Biden economy is flounderering

From Fox Business:

U.S. job growth significantly undershot expectations in November, suggesting that difficulty in attracting new workers is weighing on the labor market's recovery from the pandemic, even as COVID-19 cases dissipate nationwide.

The Labor Department said in its monthly payroll report released Friday that payrolls in November rose by just 210,000, well below the 550,000 jobs forecast by Refinitiv economists. It marked the slowest job growth this year. The unemployment rate (which is calculated based on a separate survey) dropped more than expected to 4.2% from 4.6% — the lowest level since the pandemic began.

Chicago Burberry's hit by flash mob thieves

Burberry's after looting in 2020
Thieves in big cities don't fear getting caught. And if they are, in places like Cook County, Illinois there is a catch-and-release prosecutor named Kim Foxx.

From WGN-TV:

Shoplifters have once again stormed a high-end retailer located on the Magnificient Mile. This time it was the Burberry store in the 600 block of N. Michigan Avenue.
According to police, four men hit the store around 4:15 Monday afternoon, stealing expensive purses worth thousands of dollars.
Two people suffered minor injuries trying to stop the thieves. Downtown visitors told WGN News they feel authorities should give such thefts the highest priority.
"We all work hard. I mean, it's not fair that some people just decide upon themselves to get something for free. It's not right," one man said. "We all work hard and pay and they think they can do whatever they want."
According to CWB Chicago the thieves stole an estimated $67,000 worth of merchandise and then sped away in a stolen vehicle.

Chicago's North Michigan Avenue was struck with two rounds of mass looting in 2020. As you can see by my photograph Burberry's was among the stores hit.
