While race relations in America are far from perfect there have been enormous improvements in my lifetime. But the establishment media wants to keep picking at that scab.
Rioters torch Minneapolis police station
First, I want to say there is no justifiable reason for the killing of George Floyd by a bad cop put forced his knee on his throat.
That does not exclude the rioters who have set fire to numerous stores, an apartment building under construction meant for low-income residents, and now a police station.
From the Minneapolis Star-Tribune:
That does not exclude the rioters who have set fire to numerous stores, an apartment building under construction meant for low-income residents, and now a police station.
From the Minneapolis Star-Tribune:
An angry crowd broke into the Minneapolis Police Department’s Third Precinct headquarters Thursday night and set fire to the building, capping another day of protests, many of them violent, across the Twin Cities.
The police station on E. Lake Street has been the epicenter of protests this week for people demanding justice after the death of George Floyd, who died Monday when a Minneapolis police officer set his knee on Floyd’s neck for several minutes.
Nearby, Minnehaha Lake Wine & Spirits, the target of looters the night before, also was set ablaze. As flames leapt, sharp explosions sounded as people threw bottles filled with accelerants or fired bullets into the fires.
Protests had been taking place across the metro all day, both peaceful and violent. No deaths or serious injuries were reported in Minneapolis as of midnight, but the situation remained volatile at the Third Precinct, where National Guard troops were called in to help protect firefighters.

Despite lockdown Chicago sees deadliest Memorial Day weekend in five years, 11 dead at least 38 wounded
Chicago's lakefront, as I've mentioned numerous times, is closed because of the COVID-19 lockdown and it safe from the menace of walkers, cyclists, and sunbathers. Large gatherings elsewhere in the city face police officers breaking them up.
In an official Tweet the Chicago Police Department announced, "CPD deployed resources across the city this holiday weekend to reinforce the importance of social distancing and safety of all residents."
Look for Chicago's insufferable nanny-state mayor, Lori Lightfoot, who loves the lockdown, to shift blame for the weekend violence. Will she point the fingers at "guns from Indiana?"
There are so many things wrong with Chicago.

Lightfoot has no date to re-open Chicago's lakefront, won't follow Pritzker's lead on outdoor dining yet
Juneway Terrace Beach, Chicago's North Side, during the lockdown |
Today in her daily insufferable coronavirus briefing Lightfoot said that no date has been set to re-open lakefront parks such as Lincoln, Jackson, and Burnham.
Remember when the liberals said we had to listen to the scientists about COVID-19? But with the left it's always about dominating others. "Power is the drug they've been searching for," Tucker Carlson said a few days about pols like Lightfood. "It's why they went into politics in the first place — not to help you or their fellow citizens, or to improve our society, but to fill the empty space inside themselves."
Almost has bad as Lightfoot is her fellow Democrat, Governor JB Pritzker. At least the billionaire has to answer to downstaters. Central and southern Illinois largely supported Donald Trump in 2016. Pritzker will allow restaurants to serve diners outdoors next week, although I'm certain the great majority of Prairie State restaurants have no facilities for al fresco serving.
Lightfoot says, with no credible reason given, that the city won't be ready for outdoor dining until sometime in June. Perhaps December will end up being her projected date.
Tax revenues are of course way down all across Illinois, the steep decline in restaurant traffic is only a part of this dire problem. But Pritzker and Lightfoot hasn't laid off a single government worker. I'm sure they expect a federal bailout to rescue them and their union boss pals.
But they they do know that Trump is president, right? And there is Republican majority in the Senate, right?
Barack Obama was spot on when he said, "Elections have consequences."

Chicago reporter banned from Gov Pritzker's media briefings because she spoke at anti-lockdown rally
We live in desperate times--Illinois' shaky finances, made so by corrupt politicians, most of them Democrats, are probably near collapse because Governor JB Pritzker refuses to re-open the economy. And because she spoke at an anti-lockdown rally in Chicago, a WIND-AM 560 reporter, Amy Jacobson, is banned from Pritzker's press briefings.
Also speaking at the rally was Mancow Muller, who hosts a competing radio show in the same time slot.
From Robert Feder's blog:
Also speaking at the rally was Mancow Muller, who hosts a competing radio show in the same time slot.
From Robert Feder's blog:
Jeff Reisman, regional vice president and general manager of AM 560 The Answer, questioned the decision and said he hoped Jacobson would be readmitted.I have a question for Illinois' egomaniacal Democratic governor:
“I am disappointed that the governor has decided to limit the scope of questions he receives from the media,” Reisman said. “Amy Jacobson has had a long career as a journalist in Chicago, and she has routinely been asking questions that AM 560’s listeners want to have answered.
“In this time of uncertainty, I would hope that Gov. Pritzker and his staff would be more transparent and accountable to the people of Illinois. Picking and choosing which media outlets are allowed to ask questions creates the impression that Gov. Pritzker isn’t willing to answer difficult questions. I hope this decision would be reversed immediately and that Amy would be given access once again.”
Muller also defended Jacobson, saying: “Why is it we have to agree with Governor Pritzker to ask him questions? . . . Regular people are hurting. That is who Amy and I speak with on our different radio shows. Pritzker allows no followup questions and no real questions from anyone but sycophants.”
Revenues have plummeted since you put your statewide lockdown in place and most state offices are closed, why why haven't you laid off any state workers? And I have two follow up:
Are you expecting a federal bailout to pay the salaries of those non-working employees? Why should a taxpayer in Texas pay for that?

Critics ramp up heat on Mueller's special counsel investigation
It appears President Trump is right. The Mueller probe was a witch hunt.
From Matt London of Fox News:
From Matt London of Fox News:
Critics of former special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation are turning up the heat amid new revelations in the Justice Department's handling of the Russian collusion investigation and related cases, like the troubled prosecution of former Trump National Security Advisor, General Michael Flynn.
"The Mueller probe was launched not to find wrongdoing from the Trump administration, but to cover up wrongdoing by Mueller's colleagues, by his protege James Comey, by the corrupt Obama administration Department of Justice," said The Federalist's Sean Davis on a new episode of Fox Nation's "Witch Hunt."
Skeptics of Mueller's investigation have long alleged that the former FBI director knew almost immediately after his appointment in May 2017 that there was no credible evidence of collusion between the 2016 Trump campaign and the Russian government.
"Bob Mueller knew the day that he walked in the door there was no evidence of the Trump campaign colluding with Russians," said Rep. Devin Nunes R-Calif., the ranking Republican member of the House Intelligence Committee, in a Fox News interview in May 2019.

One southern Illinois county is fighting back against the Chicago Democrat.
From KMOV-TV:
As the State of Illinois remains under stay-at-home orders, officials in one Illinois county voted Tuesday night to re-open effective on Wednesday.Pritzker, a total thug, is threatening to withhold federal relief money--that's right federal funds--for defying the directives of the Great Oz.
Madison County Health Board Chairman Kurt Prenzler is behind a resolution that allows businesses in the county to open in phases. Restaurants, gyms and salons could open as early as Wednesday with restrictions.
"It basically says that all businesses are essential," said Prenzler.
Nearly 30 members of the Madison County Board of Health voted on the resolution, with a majority voting in favor. The plan, detailed in four phases, allows restaurants, bars, salons, daycares and gyms to open Wednesday. Restaurants, retail shops and gyms must only allow 25 percent of their capacity. Salons will have to limit customers by appointment only.

Jobless rate soars to 14.7 percent
America needs to open up for business again.
From NBC News:
From NBC News:
The U.S. economy lost an unprecedented 20.5 million jobs in April and the unemployment rate soared to 14.7 percent, up from 4.4 percent in March after months at a half-century low, according to the monthly employment report, released Friday by the Department of Labor.
In just over a month, the coronavirus has wiped out all job gains since the Great Recession and brought the country's decade-long record economic growth streak to an abrupt halt.
“This is the biggest and most acute shock that we’ve seen in post-war history,” said Michelle Meyer, head of U.S. economics at Bank of America.
April's staggering jobless total is more than 10 times that of the previous unemployment record of 1.96 million, set in September 1945, when American soldiers returned home after World War II.

All charges dropped against Michael Flynn
Suddenly those reckless and unethical FBI agents on Ozark don't seem so far-fetched.
From Fox News:
From Fox News:
The Justice Department on Thursday moved to drop its case against former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn, in a stunning development that comes after internal memos were released raising serious questions about the nature of the investigation that led to Flynn’s late 2017 guilty plea of lying to the FBI.
The announcement came in a court filing "after a considered review of all the facts and circumstances of this case, including newly discovered and disclosed information," as the department put it. DOJ officials said they concluded that Flynn's interview by the FBI was "untethered to, and unjustified by, the FBI's counterintelligence investigation into Mr. Flynn" and that the interview was "conducted without any legitimate investigative basis."
The federal judge overseeing the case would have to make the final determination to dismiss it.

The retired Army lieutenant general for months has been trying to withdraw his plea, aided by a new attorney aggressively challenging the prosecution’s case and conduct. But, the case has been plodding through the court system with no resolution ever since his original plea, even amid speculation about whether President Trump himself could extend a pardon.

Patriots protest Pritzker's Illinois stay-at-home order
Freedom lovers descended upon downtown Chicago and the state capitol today.
From PBS Chicago:
From PBS Chicago:
Several hundred protesters swarmed the Thompson Center in the Loop and the Capitol in Springfield on Friday, calling for Gov. J.B. Pritzker to end the stay-at-home order he says is necessary to stop the spread of the coronavirus.
The demonstration also snarled traffic through the Loop as protesters drove around the Thompson Center honking and waving flags from cars, trucks and motorcycles. Many protesters brandished signs supporting President Donald Trump’s reelection or emblazoned with anti-government sentiments.
Other signs expressed skepticism about whether the coronavirus was as deadly as the data shows, or warning that the economic toll of the shutdown would be too great for Illinois to bear.
The protests were organized by Freedom Movement USA, which bills itself as “a group of like-minded Republican activists.” The organization has also organized rallies for the president. The Illinois State Police estimated the crowd to be 450 people outside the Thompson Center.

From the Daily Mail:
Billionaire Governor of Illinois J.B. Pritzker dodged a question about the whereabouts of his wife during a press conference Wednesday after it was reported she had left the state to ride out the stay-at-home from their $12.1 million Florida equine estate. Here is the video:
Gov. Pritzker refused to answer the question stating his family should not not be brought into politics, slamming the story as 'reprehensible' despite his wife M.K. Pritzker having an office in the Illinois Capitol and a full-time staffer.
In contrast, answering the question immediately after about businesses in the state disobeying the stay-at-home order, Pritzker warned that there were many ways they could be punished for reopening too soon.
The report that the first lady had left the state came after the governor extended 'All Illinois' stay-at-home order through May 30 and faced several legal challenges for doing so. The stay-at-home order is the second longest in America.
As the expression goes, if leftists didn't have double standards they'd have no standards at all.
