As I have remarked before, Chicago police officers are dutifully keeping the city's playgrounds and lakefront parks free from people, but violent crime remains a scourge.
Yesterday five people were shot to death--three on the South Side, one on the Southwest Side, and one in the South Loop. Nine others were wounded.
