Despite the protests organized by the Occupy movement and the Chicago Teachers Union, the Chicago Board of Education voted tonight to close down all 17 schools slated for "turnaround."
The teachers and the administrators at these unionized failure factories will be fired and the Academy for Urban School Leadership will run these schools in the next term.
A defeat for the union...but a victory for Chicago's children.

Yay! More taxpayer dollars going into the pockets of private companies and profiteers, instead of into education. Because what's the point of having a public resource if someone isn't getting filthy stinking rich off of it?
The unionized teachers do quite well, financially.
