Gordie Howe's general store in Hanover, Maine

After Detroit Red Wings great Gordie Howe retired from the NHL, he did not open up a general store in Hanover, Maine.

Gordon Paul Howe, originally from Massachusetts, ran Gordie Howe's on US Route 2 in the western part of the Pine Tree State.

Coincidentally, both Howes died in 2016.

The Marathon Pundit family drove past the store, which is now closed, in July.

I'm a trucker from Canada, I drive past this store quite often, and wondered if it had any thing to do with the infamous hockey player......

I can assure you that wasn’t the famous hockey player but the Gordy Howe who ran Howe’s General Store and helped his son Christopher Howe later (who bought it back) run Gordon Howe’s Again Store later in life. He was just as much of a hero and a man of many accomplishments and was the main reason that business (and the town) survive for as long as it did…just as great a man and I should know I’m the youngest of his 6 kids Ryan Howe. I grew up above the store in the 60’s to 70’s.
