(Photos) Dam on the North Branch of the Chicago River in Niles

Adjacent to the Niles Park District Wetlands is the Tam O'Shanter Country Club Dam on the North Branch of the Chicago River. The country club was sold to developers in the 1960s and only nine holes--administrated by the park district--remains.

The dam, which I photographed yesterday afternoon, is on the developed part of the old course.

On the right is a Coca Cola bottling facility.

It's amazing how watery subjects look when they are photographed from a different angle.

Fairly recently this dam was slated for removal, but either this report was wrong or the money dried up.
