"Indigent" wife of Rep. John Conyers enrolls in a divinity school

Although she was declared indigent by a federal judge--which means that taxpayers are compelled to pay for her legal bills as she appeals her guilty plea, former Detroit City Council President Pro Tempore Monica Conyers has enrolled in a divinity school.

It's not clear who is paying her tuition. Her cheapskate husband, Rep. John Conyers (D-MI), makes $174,000 a year. Is John, who is the chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, paying for her schooling but not her legal bills? Just asking.

Monica was sentenced to 37 months in prison for her role in a bribery scandal last month.
