Tucker: America is witnessing a brazen power grab

Tucker Carlson makes numerous stupendous points in his clip from his Thursday show.

He rightfully condemns Barack Obama for turning John Lewis' funeral into a political rally. Among other things in his eulogy, the former president denounced partisan gerrymander. But Obama has never blown the whistle on gerrymandering in his home state of Illinois, performed by the skilled vivisectionist, Boss Michael Madigan, the longtime state House speaker and Illinois Democratic Party chairman.

It's because Obama's side benefits. He's such a fraud.

Madigan is under federal investigation and there is a call from--wait for it--some Illinois Democrats for him to resign his posts.

Kass goes after cancel culture critics in latest column

The latest victim of the leftist cancel culture is the Chicago Tribune's John Kass. He spoke the truth in a column last week about radical billionaire George Soros and his funding of the campaigns of anti-law and order prosecutors such as Democrats Chesa Boudin in San Francisco and Kim Foxx in Chicago.

Not coincidentally, there are so-called "mostly peaceful" riots breaking out in cities run by Democrats all across America.

Thru their union the left-wing mob at the Tribune filed a complaint accusing Kass of anti-semitism. Soros is a non-observant Jew. Kass didn't mention Soros' ethnic and religious background in his column. Kass has been demoted in a sense--his column has been moved from the coveted Page 2 location in the print edition of the Trib to the opinion sections.

A couple of days ago Kass fired back at his critics in a column.
You’d think that before wildly accusing someone of fomenting bigoted conspiracy theories, journalists on the union’s executive board would at least take the time to Google the words “Soros,” “funding” and “local prosecutors.”

As recently as February, the Sun Times pointed out roughly $2 million in Soros money flowing to Foxx in her primary election effort against more law-and-order candidates.

In August 2016, Politico outlined Soros’ money supporting local DA races and included the view from opponents and skeptics that if successful, these candidates would make communities “less safe.”

From the Wall Street Journal in November 2016: “Mr. Soros, a major backer of liberal causes, has contributed at least $3.8 million to political action committees supporting candidates for district attorney in Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Missouri, New Mexico, Texas and Wisconsin, according to campaign filings.”
The reason the left is attacking Kass is not that he's wrong about Soros and these prosecutors. It's because he's correct.

Mostly peaceful protest? Man says he was stabbed in back for "being a conservative journalist"

Not peaceful at all.

From OregonLive:
A videographer knifed near the scene of a protest outside Portland’s federal courthouse said Wednesday he was nearly killed over his right-wing politics and activism.

“I was stabbed for being a conservative journalist,” said Andrew Duncomb, 25, who films demonstrations and other political events under the moniker "Black Rebel."

Duncomb, who is Black and a vocal supporter of President Donald Trump, told The Oregonian/OregonLive that he had traveled last Friday to Portland from his home in Northern California to document the nightly unrest outside the Mark O. Hatfield United States Courthouse and county Justice Center.

Sierra Club distancing itself from founder John Muir over racist views

Plaque at Yosemite National Park marking where
John Muir and Theodore Roosevelt met
While I don't condone any racist views I find it very troubling that the left wants to eradicate history.

They want a Year Zero.

Not even John Muir, the founder of the conservation movement, is safe.

From the San Francisco Chronicle:
The executive director of the Sierra Club apologized Wednesday for its “substantial role in perpetuating white supremacy,” and said John Muir, the club’s founder and an icon of the environmentalist movement, was a racist.

In a post on the organization’s website, Michael Brune said that just as Black Lives Matter activists are pulling down monuments to Confederate leaders, the club must re-examine its past and “take down some of our own monuments.”

That includes Muir, who Brune admitted was beloved by many of the club’s members and whose writings “taught generations of people to see the sacredness of nature.”

But Muir also was close friends with paleontologist Henry Fairfield Osborn and others connected to the eugenics movement, which advocated sterilizing those whom white supporters pegged as “deficient”: the poor, physically and mentally disabled people, and those of “unfit” races, including Black and Latino people, as well as Jews.

Uff da! Michigan B&B's Norwegian flag confused with Confederate one, owners take it down

"Uff da! (sometimes also spelled huffda, uff-da, 'oofda', uffda, uff-dah, ufda, ufdah, or uf daa) is an exclamation or interjection expressing bafflement, surprise, or dismay. Of Norwegian origin, the phrase was brought by Scandinavian Americans in the Upper Midwest, New England, and Pacific Northwest regions of the United States during the 19th century." From Wikipedia.

We have an "uff da" moment in St. Johns Michigan.

Ignorance has no limits.

From the Lansing State Journal:
The owners of a massive Civil War-era mansion turned bed and breakfast have removed a Norwegian flag that's hung outside its main entrance for two years because they say too many people have mistaken it for the Confederate flag and confronted them about it.

Before it was a nearly 9,000-square-foot bed and breakfast the house was a local landmark. It was built in 1861 by Oliver Spaulding, a brevetted brigadier Union general and attorney. Spaulding served as a regent of the University of Michigan for six years, was a U.S. Congressman and a former Michigan Secretary of State.

Displaying Norway's flag, red with a blue cross superimposed on a white cross, is a nod to Kjersten Offenbecker's Scandinavian heritage. Her grandfather was born in Norway and the bed and breakfast's name is, in part, inspired by her family history.

The couple said it never occurred to them that people would mistake the Norwegian flag as anything else, but last week, after they received the latest in what Kjersten Offenbecker called "at least a dozen hateful emails," and twice as many comments they took the flag down.
For what it's worth, and for the uneducated that means nothing, the modern incarnation of Norway has only been at war once, when the Nazis invaded in 1940. It's a peaceful place.

Dem candidate for DuPage County Board drops out after she Tweets about laughing at federal officer being attacked

Like much of Illinois, DuPage County has changed. The Chicago collar county used to be a solid Republican stronghold. Now the Democrats are taking over. And much of today's Democratic Party is that of the far-left and Antifa.

So it should be no surprise that some Dem politicians support the mayhem going on in Portland. Such as former candidate for the DuPage County Board, Hadiya Afzal.

In her Tweet, which is no longer viewable as Afzal has made her Twitter account private, she says, "I've been watching this on repeat for fifteen minutes and laughing every time."

Below is the short video that got Hadiya Awful laughing.

Yesterday Azfal dropped out of that board race but not before blaming "right-wing activists" for her troubles.

Meanwhile over in Chicago its mayor, Lori Lightfoot, faces regular protests at her Logan Square home. She is protected by--well, you know it's not Antifa.

So far no one has been fined for violating Lightfoot's tough talk COVID-19 quarantine order

I've had a few bosses over the years like Chicago's mayor, Lori Lightfoot. She is adept at barking out tough-talk orders but a complete failure at producing favorable results.

Here latest flop is her COVID-19 order that calls for visitors from 18 states to quarantine themselves for 14 days. Violators face steep fines. When Wisconsin is added--which should happen soon--that will make 19.

Thousands of Chicagoans regularly travel to Wisconsin. A few commute, some take daytrips to places like Wisconsin Dells, some spend a week or more at vacation spots such as the North Woods.

Megan Hickey inquired about the number fines issued to those who ignored Mayor Lightweight's quarantine directive. The answer?

None.

Five wounded in mass shooting on Chicago's South Side

There was another mass shooting this evening in Chicago, the 32nd of the year. Five people, three men and two women, were wounded this evening in the Burnside neighborhood on the Far South Side.

This morning not too far away from Burnside a 10-month-old passenger in a car was wounded on the Bishop Ford Freeway. Eighteen others have been wounded all over Chicago so far today.

Leftist Daily Herald blogger Robert Feder calls columnist John Kass "Chicago Tribune’s white male conservative standard-bearer"

The Chicago Tribune's John Kass has been producing common-sense columns in that once-great newspaper's coveted page-two location that Pulitzer Prize-winning writer Mike Royko occupied since the 1990s.

He's more libertarian than conservative, Regardless of labels he's much better than that leftist hack Robert Feder, who blogs thru the Daily Herald.

Kass has been booted out of the page-two spot after his weaselly co-workers at the Trib shrieked about a column of his published last week about how the vile George Soros has been funding the campaign funds of anti-law enforcement prosecutors such as leftist Kim Foxx, who dropped the charges against hate-crime hoaxster Jussie Smollett.

In Robert "Fraud" Feder's blog post about Kass' exile from page-two, he referred to Kass as the "Chicago Tribune’s white male conservative standard-bearer."

Replace "white" with black and "male" with female. And of course "conservative" with "liberal." Do you think if Fraud Feder wrote that about an African-American writer at the Trib who is a woman that he would have gotten away with it?

I don't believe so.

Protesters gathered Thursday night in front of Mayor's Lightfoot's home

There was a defund-the-police rally outside Mayor Lori Lightfoot's Northwest Side home. Protecting Lightweight were Chicago police officers.

Mass shooting on Chicago's South Side kills two and wounds four, overall 3 dead and 16 wounded Thursday in city

Early this morning Mayor Lori Lightfoot ordered the removal of Chicago's two Christopher Columbus statues. Mayor Lightweight's priorities are elsewhere. On Thursday there was another mass shooting in Chicago, the 31st this year. Two people were fatally gunned down and four others were wounded in the Far South Side neighborhood of West Pullman. Overall on Thursday three people were murdered and at least 16 others were wounded in Chicago.

Rioters' veto: Lightfoot orders removal of Chicago's two Columbus statues

Christopher Columbus statue at
Columbus Park in 2010
Years ago I came across the term "heckler's veto." It is government, and sometimes corporations, bowing down to the complaints of a very few, even just one person, over something like a creche display outside a village hall--even when other displays, even irreligious ones, are allowed.

Society's descent continues. Last night, bowing to pressure from rioters, Mayor Lori Lightfoot of Chicago ordered the "temporary" removal of the city's two Christopher Columbus statues, one just south of downtown in Columbus Park, the other at Little Italy on the West Side. They were gone sometime before sunrise today.

We now have a "rioters' veto." Mayor Lightweight caved in to the extremists.

Although there is no polling on the statues, my guess is that most Chicagoans either supported keeping the statues up, or they didn't care. But the violent brats, far-left Antifa and the like, got their way.

If only Lightweight was as determined to fight violent crime in her city. We'd be making progress. She calls herself a progressive. But she doesn't seem that interested in that kind of progress.

McEnany: Chicago mayor needs to admit she needs federal help

Chicago's ineffective leftist mayor, Lori Lightfoot, presides, if you call it that, over a city with runaway violence. Lightweight of course suffers from Trump Derangement Snydrome--and she is refusing the president's offer of assistance.

But Kayleigh McEnany, Trump's press secretary, says it's time for Lightweight to admit she needs help from the federal government.

Admitting defeat is the first step for healing.

Feds subpoena AT&T records over Boss Madigan

Well, my old employer finds itself in the news--and not in a good way.

From WGN-TV:
Federal investigators are now looking into AT&T's dealings with Illinois house speaker Michael Madigan.

The Chicago Tribune reports federal prosecutors subpoenaed the company earlier this year.

Last week, Madigan’s office was asked for all documents involving AT&T including contracts and lobbying services.

Records show the company’s lobbying team has several of the same former Madigan staffers as ComEd, which is now charged with a bribery scheme.
AT&T says it is cooperating with the investigation.

Madigan, who has been state house speaker for 35 of the last 37 years has also been chairman of the Illinois Democratic Party since 1998. Madigan has been part of every budget process in Illinois for decades. America's sixth-most populous state is bankrupt in all but name.

More from the Tribune:
Meanwhile, AT&T Illinois President Eileen Mitchell was a top Madigan staff member during the 1990s before joining AT&T in 2003 as a vice president of external affairs. She also worked briefly as chief of staff to then-Mayor Rahm Emanuel.

AT&T and its employees have given heavily to Madigan’s campaign coffers, racking up more than a quarter of a million dollars in donations to three separate funds the speaker controls since 2016 alone, state election records show.

Portland mayor teargassed during protest

While I'm certain that being teargassed is a horrible experience I have no sympathy for Portland, Oregon's mayor, who was gassed yesterday. This fool has let barbarians take over his downtown area every night for almost two months.

From the Oregonian:
Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler stood Wednesday among the front lines of protests outside the federal courthouse, where he and hundreds of other people were tear gassed repeatedly by federal officers.

Demonstrators have converged every night for eight weeks in downtown Portland to call for systemic reforms to the police bureau Wheeler oversees. The mayor’s appearance on Day 56 attracted attention and jeers from the crowd of more than 2,000 people.

Wheeler pledged to stand beside protesters subjected to consistent force by federal law enforcement who have made the Portland protests a national storyline.

The mayor told people he was raising alarms across the nation to warn other cities about what could unfold in their towns.

14 wounded in mass shooting outside Chicago funeral home

Fearing what Chicago's leftist mayor calls "tyranny," Lori Lightfoot does not want federal agents coming to her city to fight violence. But a few hours after she said that there was a mass shooting on Chicago's South Side tonight.

From Fox Chicago:
At least 14 people were injured in a shooting Tuesday outside of a funeral home in Gresham on the South Side.

The shooting happened about 6:30 p.m. as a group of people left a funeral in the 1000 block of West 79th Street, First Deputy Supt. Eric Carter said. Rhodes Funeral Services is located on that block.

People in a black vehicle opened fire on the group as they left the funeral, Carter said. At least one of the funeral attendees started shooting back, and 60 shell casings were found at the scene.

The vehicle crashed after speeding away from the scene, Carter said, and the occupants fled. Police are questioning one person of interest.
The sight of the shooting is about a mile from St. Sabina Catholic Church, where radical priest, Michael Pfleger, has been pastor for decades.

About an hour before this carnage, Lightfoot Tweeted this bile, "Under no circumstances will I allow Donald Trump’s troops to come to Chicago and terrorize our residents."

While Chicago's leftist mayor, Lori Lightfoot, continues to show disrespect to the police, violent crime continues to plague the city at a higher rate than before the COVID-19 epidemic.

Over this past weekend 10 people were shot to death and at least 60 others were wounded. The worst incident of violence occurred in the Morgan Park neighborhood on the South Side, where two people were killed and 5 others wounded in a Sunday mass shooting.

Trump says Chicago violence worse than Afghanistan

Look for Chicago's weak mayor, Lori Lightfoot, to point her finger at President Trump. Back to her. What is Mayor Lightweight doing to combat violent crime in her city?

From NBC Chicago:
President Trump once again criticized Chicago and its violence on Monday, saying the city is "worse than Afghanistan" or any war zone that the U.S. is in, according to Forbes.

He made the comments during a law enforcement roundtable at the White House where the president made his clear opposition to defunding police and attacked Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden for supporting police reform.

The president also condemned cities that are run by Democrats and “radical libs,” claiming that they are racked with violent crime and overrun with protesters who “rip everything down in front of them," according to Forbes.

Supreme Court rules grand jury can subpoena Trump tax returns

Now I'm not sure, other than for political reasons, why the president is being hounded on this issue.

From CNBC:
The Supreme Court on Thursday voted 7-2 against President Donald Trump in a case over whether he could shield his tax records from the Manhattan district attorney.

Chief Justice John Roberts authored the court's opinion, which was joined by Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Stephen Breyer, Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan. Justices Brett Kavanaugh and Neil Gorsuch wrote separately to explain their votes with the majority. Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito dissented.

"In our judicial system, ;the public has a right to every man's evidence.' Since the earliest days of the Republic, 'every man' has included the President of the United States,: Roberts wrote.
But it's unclear whether those returns will see the light of day before the election.

It was another brutally violent weekend in Chicago. Over the Independence Day weekend 17 people were shot to death and at least 74 others were wounded. Two of the fatalities and ten of the wounded were minors.

Chicago's mayor, Lori Lightfoot, is blaming the increased bloodshed on guns of course, the lockdown (which she encouraged), but of course has nothing to say on individual responsibility.
