Leftist rioters topple George Washington statue in Portland, drape it in a burning US flag

When will the decent people of America rise up and say, "Enough?" This happened Thursday night--so I apologize for getting to it just now.

Not surprisingly the establishment media is mostly ignoring this story.

A statue of America's first president, George Washington, has been torn down by rioters in Portland, Oregon. Before toppling the statue, it was vandalized, draped in an American flag, and then lit on fire.

The destruction of the statue occurred after 21 days of protest in Portland, according to CBS News affiliate KOIN. Journalist Andy Ngo tweeted that the words "Genocidal colonist" & "f— cops" were sprayed on the monument. Rioters have begun to build another autonomous zone nearby."

It is true. George Washington did own slaves. But according to the Mount Vernon website, George Washington, the great general who led American forces to freedom from Great Britain's tyranny in the Revolutionary War, and the first President of the United States, was also the only member of America's founders to make provision in his will for the freeing of the enslaved people on his Mount Vernon plantation.

Historian Fergus M. Bordewich told CBN News last year, "In his will, Washington freed every slave he owned and provided for them financially. And he advocated an exceptionally enlightened policy toward native tribes."

Man charged in murder of retired St. Louis police captain who was protecting store from looters

Here's a story that the establishment media is for the most part ignoring. The victim you should know, was an African American.

A man has been charged with the murder of retired St. Louis Police Captain David Dorn five days after a handful of looters broke into a pawn shop in north St. Louis City and ended the night with a tragic loss to the St. Louis community.

Officials with the St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office said 24-year-old Stephan Cannon was charged with first-degree murder for the death of Dorn. The shooting happened at Lee's Pawn and Jewelry on June 2 after a night of looting and violent rioting in St. Louis City.

Police said Dorn was found shot multiple times.

"[Dorn] was murdered by looters at a pawn shop. He was the type of brother that would’ve given his life to save them if he had to," the Ethical Society of Police of St. Louis wrote after the murder. "Violence is not the answer, whether it’s a citizen or officer."

Five shot and at least 30 wounded over weekend in Chicago

It was another violent weekend in Chicago. Five people were shot to death and at least 30 others were wounded. One of the murders was on the Near West Side, the deceased was a victim of a mass shooting that wounded three others early Sunday morning.

Of the other homicides one occurred on the West Side--the three others on the South Side.

In related news Mayor Lori Lightfoot announced that the lakefront parks west of Lake Shore Drive will open soon. But not the 18-mile long lakefront path. Which means police officers will still be playing mall cop instead of protecting Chicagoans from violence.

Deadliest Chicago weekend of 2020: 19 murdered and at least 63 wounded

While the riots and looting in downtown Chicago and the south and west sides understandably dominated the local news, there was other violence in the city. Over the past weekend 19 people were shot to death and at least 63 others were wounded. Some of these shootings occurred during Sunday night's curfew.

And of course Chicago police officers, despite the riots, looting, and shootings, are still dutifully guarding the city's 18 miles of lakefront parks from the menace of runners, cyclists, and walkers.
