Columbus statue vandalized in Detroit

The criminal who defaced a statute of Christopher Columbus in downtown Detroit this afternoon must have been a celebrant of Indigenous Peoples Day.

Sure, the Genovese navigator wasn't perfect. However I recall that the Mayans and the Aztecs were slavers and practitioners of human sacrifice.

From the Detroit News:
Someone apparently isn't a fan of Christopher Columbus on the holiday honoring the Italian explorer.

A statue of Columbus at Jefferson and Randolph was vandalized with what appears to be red paint and a hatchet to its head. A photo of the statute was posted Monday on Reddit. By afternoon, the hatchet was removed.

The city of Detroit will have the statue cleaned Tuesday, said Dan Austin, a spokesman for Mayor Mike Duggan's office.
Hatchet? Doesn't the writer mean a tomahawk?

From my post at Da Tech Guy:

I walked its streets--the tragedy of Detroit.
