Illinois lawmakers are looking to commemorate Ronald Reagan with a statue of the former president on the grounds of the state capitol.Here's the part Reagan would just love:
State Sen. Darin LaHood, R-Dunlap, began the push for a memorial project on Wednesday, asking lawmakers and state officials for their support.
"Everyone knows about our extensive Lincoln heritage and President Grant's military prowess," LaHood said. "But they often forget that Ronald Reagan is the only Illinois-born man to reach the White House."
With the state facing financial troubles, LaHood said he doesn't intend to fund the project with taxpayer dollars.Related posts:
