(Photos) Polish anti-Russian protest in Chicago

While I was working this afternoon, Mrs. Marathon Pundit and Little Marathon Pundit attended a play in downtown Chicago. While passing Daley Plaza, they encountered a rally commemorating the fourth annivesary of the Air Force Tu-154 crash in Smolensk which killed Polish president Lech Kaczyński and nearly 100 other eminent Poles. The dignitaries were traveling to the western Russian city to mark the 70th anniversary of the Katyn Massacre, where Polish soldiers, police, and intelligentsia were murdered by members of forerunner of the Soviet KGB.

According to Mrs. Marathon Pundit, the speeches were mostly in Polish.

The phrase on the Polish flag reads, "We demand the truth about Smolensk."

This one is much more direct: "Polish president assassinated in Russia on 4-10-2010. His office occupied by Russian agent."

That man would be Bronisław Maria Komorowski, who succeeded Kaczyński and who was elected to his own term later in 2010.
