Happy 205th birthday Abraham Lincoln

America's first--and greatest--Republican president, Abraham Lincoln, was born on this day in 1809.

Of the United States, Lincoln wrote during the dark days of the Civil War when victory was far from certain, that our nation is "the last best hope of earth."

And it still is.
