Taxpayers' best friend in DC Tom Coburn resigning from Senate

Coburn
Sen. Tom Coburn (R-OK), the best friend taxpayers have in Washington, will resign his seat on Friday.

He is suffering from prostate cancer, but Coburn, a medical doctor, told the Oklahoman that he isn't leaving the upper chamber because of health reasons, explaining to the paper, "I've had a lot of changes in my life. This is another one."

In a statement, Coburn said, "My commitment to the people of Oklahoma has always been that I would serve no more than two terms. Our founders saw public service and politics as a calling rather than a career."

Aspiring public servants can learn a lot by studying this man's career and his dedication to blowing the whistle on wasteful spending.
