When Fisker laid off 75 percent of its workforce on Friday, the mainstream media barely lifted an eyelash. But ABC 7 Los Angeles noticed.
"If the luxury car maker goes bust," ABC 7 reporter Leanne Suter commented, "it will be the most high-profile failure of an alternative energy firm backed by the Obama administration since [Solyndra] filed for bankruptcy in 2011."
Fisker's offices were based in southern California, but its plug-in hybrid cars were built in Finland. The troubled automaker received a half-billion dollars in stimulus cash.
On the positive side, Justin Bieber received a Fisker Karma for his 18th birthday on the Ellen show. But that car was involved in a hit-and-run at a liquor store parking lot when somebody named Lil Twist was behind the wheel.
Hmm...celebrity worship and a green failure crash. It's the perfect story about the Obama years.
