Another stimulus failure: Electric car maker Fisker lays off most of staff

One way President Obama was going to "fundamentally transform America" was to force us to buy "green" cars--assuming of course that we could afford them. For instance, the MSRP for a 2012 Fisker Karma--without navigation--is $102,000. And that plug-in hybrid is manufactured--wait for it--in Finland. No 2013 models have been produced.

And of course Obama's fundamental transformation involves massive wasting of taxpayer funds.

From Fox News:
Fisker Automotive -- the electric-car maker that was granted a half-billion-dollar federal loan and on Friday dismissed about 75 percent of its remaining workforce -- is purportedly facing a lawsuit from the same firm that sued the government-funded Solyndra company.

Fisker laid off 160 of its roughly 210 employees Friday morning from its Anaheim, Calif., location, according to Automotive News.

Employees told the publication they were given no severance pay besides compensation for unused vacation days.

According to the class action suit filed by Outten & Golden, in a California district court, Fisker failed to notify the employees 60 days in advance, violating the federal U.S. Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act and a similar state WARN Act.
But could the Fisker be built in China next?

Fisker is trying to work deals with three different Chinese companies, including Geely Holding Group, which owns Volvo, and Wanxiang Group Corp., which recently bought A123 Systems out of bankruptcy. The other bidder, according to an individual familiar with the negotiations, is a business owned by the Chinese government.
A123, which recently changed its name to A456--I'm not kidding--was another green firm that collected stimulus cash. Last year it filed for bankruptcy.

  1. Electric cars are great for the environment. However people fail to address its other problem. Million's of electric cars on the highway could produce a tremendous amount of magnetosphere. How do we approach the matter?
