Illinois: Quinn in Spain looking for business, meanwhile Airbus is building in right-to-work Alabama

Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn is in Spain--he is hoping to attract business and of course jobs to boost the state's weak economy.

But earlier this week Alabama managed to land a $600 Airbus factory. Why? Both Alabama's governor and the chairman of Airbus said that the right-to work status of the state, which by the way is not a center of aviation manufacturing, was a factor in bringing the plant there.

Union-loving Quinn continues to tilt at windmills in Spain, however. Literally. The Land of Cervantes plunged into green energy with predictable results--a high national unemployment rate. Here is the punchline: Quinn is seeking out alternative energy investors in Spain.

Assuming they have the money, those Spanish green investors Quinn is courting will probably choose a right-to-work state if they decide to expand in America.
