(Video) Very low turnout for Occupy Chicago protest against high student loan debt

The Occupy movement continues to wither away. High student loan debt has been one of the many issue has been protesting against. This evening Occupy Chicago held a demonstration--nominally linked to the Quebec protests against tuition hikes--at the Lincoln Park campus of DePaul University. Although a deal looks like it will be worked out to prevent this from happening, student loan interest is set to double next month

Only 25 people showed up. According to the Facebook page for this event, 62 committed, while there were 45 'maybe' responses to invitations for the protest.

While I'll admit I wasn't there for the entire protest, I did not hear anyone admit responsibility for taking on their student loan debt--often for unmarketable degrees such as ones in Women's Studies. Nor did any of them blame DePaul or any other college for being turned into what Victor Davis Hanson calls 'Helots' by radical university professors and administrators by "borrowing more for a less valuable, more politicized education that takes longer, with waning ability to pay off the ever greater debt."

You may think I'm being harsh for knocking Occupy Chicago for failing to attract a big crowd--but remember, Occupy claims to be a mass movement representing 99 percent of the population.
