Līgo--the Latvian midsummer festival, was taking place then. As I said in my video, if you can imagine a combination of New Year's Eve and the 4th of July--then you can envision Līgo. However, a couple of other important ingredients--folk dancing and traditional music--are also part of the joy of Līgo.
