Buh-bye Ben: Dem Nelson to retire from Senate

State Treasurer Don Stenberg
Sen. Ben Nelson (D-NE), of Cornhusker Kickback fame, will retire from the US Senate at the end of his term in 2013. This is devastating in regards to Democratic Party hopes to maintain control of the upper chamber, although Nelson faced tough reelection odds. The Hill says "Democrats have a very short bench in the Cornhusker State."

Nelson read the Tea Party leaves. He didn't want to leave public office as a loser.

During FreedomWorks' BlogCon, I had the pleasure of meeting Don Stenberg, Nebraska's treasurer and a Republican candidate for the seat Nelson is abandoning.
