XTC: Ball and Chain

The dominant songwriter for XTC was Andy Partridge, but Colin Moulding always contributed two or three songs on each album, and in their early years his tunes were often hits, such as "Life Begins at the Hop" and "Generals and Majors."

On their English Settlement album, "Ball and Chain" was one of Moulding's contributions--it was a modest hit in Great Britain for the boys from Swindon.
