Red trillium

Red Trillium in Morton Grove, IL
Yesterday I posted a photograph of a white trillium that I encountered in Morton Grove's Linne Woods. A few feet away from that one, I discovered a red trillium.

Red trillium is also known as stinking Benjamin--it smells a bit like decaying meat. The odor attracts flies, which assists in the pollination of the flower.
