Wind: Green pork

You would think after driving over much of this country, which I've done, that wind energy provides a significant portion of our power needs. I mean, man, I see more and more windmills out there.

Wrong! Despite all the new wind mills that can be seen from rural interstates, wind provides us with a less than 1 percent of our energy needs. It only employs 85,000 people.

The Wall Street Journal attacks what it calls green pork today, declaring it should be a target for the House GOP budget knives.  They're right.

Wind power suppliers have received $30 billion in stimlus cash.

As for the oil and gas industry, it provides 62 percent of our energy needs, yet it receives only $2.8 billion in tax incentives.

Wind mill construction, in case you didn't know, is down 71 percent from last year's levels.
