Two Marathon Pundit high school classmates elected to California statewide office

In September I attended my 30th high school reunion--Carl Sandburg High School, class of 1980.
I had a terrific time, and I got to see a number of people I hadn't laid eyes upon for thirty years.

There were two California politicians in attendance, both good friends of mine: state Controller John Chiang and Assemblyman Dave Jones, both Democrats. Chiang won reelection on Tuesday, and Jones was elected insurance commissioner. They got a lot of attention that night. As did I--the Marathon Pundit blog is well-read by my classmates.

I probably spent more time talking to Jones and Chiang more than anyone else. What we discussed will remain off-the-record--but don't let your imaginations run wild--it was controversy-free and G-rated.

They found it a bit humorous that I spent most of that day at Right Nation in Hoffman Estates before driving to south suburban Chicago for the reunion.

Obviously our political philosophies are different, but I can assure you that Jones and Chiang are quite intelligent-and they have the best intentions for the people of California.

Good luck to both of you. You will need it.

I mean, we're talking about California here, guys.
